During their discussion, Nghiem highlighted the two nations’ increasingly fortified naval cooperation, saying their bilateral naval consultation mechanism, which is alternately hosted by the two sides, has been highly effective.
He appreciated the participation and practical opinions of the Indonesian Navy delegation delivered at a virtual conference of the Working Group of the ASEAN Navy Training Experience Exchange Programme (ANTEEP), which was held by the Vietnam People’s Navy in April this year.
For his part, Yudo Margono stated the Indonesian Navy is committed to working closely with Viet Nam to build and maintain a peaceful and stable border sea area between the two countries, as well as to create favourable conditions for their fishermen to operate without violating their respective waters.
Both officials agreed to promote necessary steps on a joint training standard procedure in order to standardise the process and improve coordination between the two navies for addressing common maritime security challenges.
