Vegetarian Food Festival 2025 – spreading the City's spirit of green living

On the evening of November 1, Binh Phu Park (Ho Chi Minh City) was vibrant with the colours of the Vegetarian Food Festival 2025 – Green Food Festival. The event, organized on World Vegetarian Day by the Ho Chi Minh City Food Association (FBA) in collaboration with various partners, aims to honor the essence of Vietnamese vegetarian cuisine, encourage a healthy lifestyle, and spread the message of green living and sustainable development.

On the opening day, thousands of people from various localities visited to explore, experience, and enjoy the unique vegetarian dishes.

This year's festival spans nearly 7 hectares, featuring over 200 booths from businesses, restaurants, and OCOP (Organic, Macrobiotic) brands from Ho Chi Minh City and many provinces nationwide. The festival space is designed to be open, combining green landscapes with culinary experience areas, creating a unique destination for residents and tourists who love vegetarian culture.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Tan Viet – Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Food Association and Head of the Organising Committee – emphasised: “The 2025 Vegetarian Food Festival continues to gather hundreds of businesses, chefs, artisans, and renowned vegetarian brands. This is not only an occasion to promote the essence of Vietnamese vegetarian cuisine but also an opportunity to encourage the community to adopt a green, environmentally friendly lifestyle.”

According to the Organising Committee, the festival aims to honour the cultural value of vegetarian cuisine, promote a healthy lifestyle, develop a green economy, and advertise green tourism, spreading the message “Clean Eating – Green Living – Sustainable Development of Vietnam”.

Ms Nguyen Thi Hang, Vice Chairwoman of Binh Phu Ward People's Committee, shared: “The festival is not only a cultural and tourism activity but also carries the meaning of promoting a green, humane, and sustainable community. We hope this model will be expanded, becoming a highlight in Ho Chi Minh City's journey towards green urban development.”

On the opening day, thousands of people from various localities visited to explore, experience, and enjoy the unique vegetarian dishes. The festival space was lively, with booths uniformly using recycled materials, environmentally friendly tools, and many engaging interactive activities.

A significant highlight of the program is the launch of the “Join Hands for the Environment – Binh Phu Green 2025” event, implemented under the “Green Festival – Zero Waste” model. This activity, organised by the Vietnam Foodbank Network in collaboration with the GreenHero Project, includes programs for sorting, recycling waste, and processing food waste right at the festival area. Through this, people can directly participate in practical environmental actions, from reducing plastic waste to adopting green consumption habits.

Additionally, the “Loving Vegetarian Meal” program, which offered 1,000 free meals for disadvantaged children and 200 gift packages for the elderly living alone, created a warm and compassionate atmosphere. This activity was supported by the Chef Action Network and the Ho Chi Minh City Chefs Association, along with artists and volunteers, who contributed to spreading the spirit of sharing and community responsibility.

Beyond introducing cuisine, the Vegetarian Food Festival 2025 also contributes to shaping a new lifestyle trend – connecting people, nature, and the environment. Through activities such as tasting, exchanges, exhibitions, and green action initiatives, the festival has created a forum for everyone to reflect on their lifestyle, aiming for a balance between material and spiritual well-being.

The Vegetarian Food Festival is a continuation of that journey – where cuisine becomes a bridge between culture, health, and community awareness.

The Vegetarian Food Festival 2025 – Green Food Festival is scheduled to run until November 5, with an anticipated attendance of around 150,000 visitors. With its lush green spaces, delicious vegan dishes, and meaningful activities, the festival is not only a place to enjoy cuisine but also an opportunity for everyone to strive for a better life – eating healthily, living sustainably, and developing together.
