Towards an ASEAN-RoK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for peace, security and prosperity

This is an initiative proposed by Vietnam.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Do Hung Viet and First Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the RoK Chang Ho-jin cut the ribbon to open the ASEAN-Korea Tourism Exhibition.
Themed “Towards an ASEAN-RoK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace, Security and Prosperity”, the event brought together representatives from Government agencies, scholars and researchers from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the RoK.
In his remarks, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Do Hung Viet stressed in the rapidly changing and complex world situation, ASEAN and the RoK are bound together by a shared vision - which is one of a peaceful, secure and prosperous region based on international law, and an open, inclusive and transparent regional structure with ASEAN at the center.
This shared vision has continuously deepened the ASEAN-RoK relations, and they have become reliable and important partners for each other.

Deputy Minister Viet remarked that ASEAN appreciates the RoK's strong and consistent support for ASEAN by proposing to establish an ASEAN-RoK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and implement the ASEAN-Korea Solidarity Initiative (KASI).
Deputy Minister Do Hung Viet emphasized the Forum’s significance and praised the organization, expecting delegates to suggest recommendations to deepen cooperation areas, especially economic, trade and investment cooperation, thereby effectively taking advantage of new growth drivers such as technology innovation, energy transition, green growth, effectively responding to common challenges and making positive contributions to peace, stability and sustainable development.

The RoK’s First Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Chang Ho-jin affirmed that RoK wishes to strengthen and deepen cooperative relations with ASEAN through coordination to implement the ASEAN-Korea Solidarity Initiative, establishing the ASEAN-RoK Strategic Partnership.
The diplomat demonstrates the RoK's respect and strong commitment to supporting ASEAN's central role as well as the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific (AOIP), expecting that the KASI Initiative will meet the need for practical, effective and mutually beneficial cooperation, effectively contributing to efforts towards the ASEAN-Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
At the Forum, delegates reviewed 35 years of ASEAN-Korea dialogue relations, and discussed the next directions for the relationship.
Within the framework of the ASEAN-Korea Day, a night concert will be held at Hanoi Opera House.
