Many of the province’s tourism activities have remained normal with service quality at tourist sites such as the Hue ancient citadel relic complex improving following the launch of an array of incentive programs for visitors to enjoy.

On average, the Hue Heritage Site welcomes between 7,000 and 8,000 visitors each day, with international visitors accounting for over 6,000 of the figure.

Moreover, the Hue Monuments Conservation Center is currently initiating a range of stimulus packages by organising a golden tourism week at Hue Heritage Sites whilst offering a discount of up to 50 per cent on tickets.

Meanwhile, Chan May port in Thua Thien Hue province has welcomed three cruise ships containing over 4,000 tourists over the past few days.

To combat fears surrounding the COVID-19 epidemic, Chan May port has been equipped with a body temperature scanner to check the health of travelers before they enter the locality in line with regulations set out by the health sector.

A number of tourism firms have moved to introduce suitable tourism products for guests such as soaking in hot spring baths to improve the health of guests.

According to Dinh Manh Thang, Chairman of Thua Thien Hue Tourism Association, said the number of visitors to Hue has dropped by approximately 15 per cent, with March likely to see tourism figures drop to 20 per cent.

Thang added that although the number of visitors has dropped, this remains an acceptable figure for Hue’s tourism sector amid the COVID-19 epidemic.

The province along with local travel operators have also sought ways to promote Hue as a safe and friendly destination, Thang noted.

The province's tourism sector has also taken a range of measures to restructure the tourism market whilst also launching stimulus packages to overcome difficulties caused by the epidemic.

Phan Ngoc Tho, Chairman of the Thua Thien Hue People's Committee, said with the goal of ensuring absolute safety for tourists and residents, the tourism and health sectors along with travel companies, hotels, and relics sites, have implemented a number of measures aimed at preventing the potential spread of the epidemic by delivering face masks and liquid hand gel to travelers.
