Top tourism development potentials

Quang Binh is located in the Vietnam’s North Central region, with a natural area of 8,065 km2 and a population of over 900,000 people. It is considered as Vietnam’s leading locality in possessing various advantages, potential and rich resources for tourism development.

Not only being voted by the New York Times as Asia’s most attractive destination and ranked 8th out of 52 in the world, Quang Binh is also rated by the world's top travel magazines and websites such as Lonely Planet, Telegraph, Trip Advisor... as one of the most worthy places to experience in Vietnam.

The heart of Quang Binh’s tourism is Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park, is one of the brands representing Vietnam's tourism in promotion to the international market, which was recognized as a World Natural Heritage twice in 2003 and 2015 by UNESCO. This is also the first heritage in Southeast Asia to achieve 3 out of 4 criteria for a World Natural Heritage, including geology, geomorphology, biodiversity and environmental landscape.

The province is also known as the “land of caves”, which contains thousands of both large and small caves with world's leading values, such as the world's largest Son Doong cave, world's third-largest En cave, Va cave with the world's most unique stalactite system, Phong Nha cave, Tien Son cave, Thien Duong cave, Toi cave, Tu Lan cave system... Along with such magnificent cave system are rivers and primitive forests, with an extremely diverse and rich biological system.

Quang Binh is also prominent in sea and island tourism with the longest coastal sand strip in Vietnam, as well as many beautiful, unspoiled beaches offering grained sand and crystal-clear waters such as Nhat Le, Bao Ninh, Quang Phu, Da Nhay, Hai Ninh…, and various fresh seafood dishes with unique flavors.

Moreover, this strip of Central region’s land is also a sacred land of extraordinary people, a place of cultural interference and acculturation with relics and national treasures of Cham culture, Bau Tro cultural relics, and relics belonging to Hoa Binh and Dong Son cultures.

On the basis of these advantages, Quang Binh is focusing on developing resorts, coastal entertaining sports, medical and rehabilitation tourism, and culinary tourism. Quang Binh’s tourism concentrates on exploiting and developing a system of diversified and high-quality tourism products to serve various needs. These needs are divided into 3 main groups, including tourism center for discovering and experiencing Asia’s nature; cultural and historical tourism products, cultural and traditional festivals, intangible cultural values associated with residential community’s daily life; high-class coastal resorts, sports and entertainment tourism products.

Come to Quang Binh to succeed

Quang Binh is an attractive destination for domestic and foreign investors, as it possesses an important strategic position on the East–West Economic Corridor (EWEC), as well as converges many potentials and strengths to develop an integrated and diversified economy, especially tourism economy.

Owning a convenient traffic system in terms of road, railway, seaway and airway, Quang Binh is located in an important lifeline position on national traffic routes, such as National Highway no.1A, Ho Chi Minh Road; North - South railway transport system; Hon La seaport; Dong Hoi airport with a capacity of 3 million passengers per year after being upgraded (its average operating capacity has recently reached more than 600,000 passengers per year ever since 2018).

Beside that, the province also lies in a strategic position on the EWEC axis, with National Highway no.12A as the shortest route linking Vietnam with Laos and Thailand through Cha Lo International Border Gate and the 3rd Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge. Therefore, it is considered to be the eastern gateway of Central Laos, Northeast Thailand and Myanmar.

Especially, Dong Hoi airport will be upgraded and expanded to level 4C according to the standard code of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), with a capacity of 3 million passengers per year and cargo ranging from 50,000 to 100,000 tons per year in the near future. This will be an important driving force to promote trade and travel opportunities, as well as to attract investment in the province’s potential areas and strengths.

Quang Binh has two economic zones, one of which is Cha Lo International Border Gate Economic Zone, a hub port and an import - export center of goods and services in Central Laos, Northeast Thailand and the Mekong sub-region. The other is Hon La Marine Economic Zone, which is located in the key economic zone of Southern Ha Tinh – Northern Quang Binh. Along with 8 industrial parks approved by the Government, the province is also planned as Vietnam’s major energy development center....

Not only fully converging great conditions to develop into a major tourist center of Vietnam and Southeast Asia, with many famous landscapes, scenic spots, plus historical and cultural relics, Quang Binh also offers favorable qualities for the development of the agricultural sector, especially of the forest and marine economy, with its over-116-kilometer-long coastline and more than 68% of forest coverage (ranking second in the whole country).

The province has recently issued a list of its 23 potential projects in the 2022 – 2024 period, including 6 agricultural projects, 7 projects on tourism, trade and services, 6 industrial projects, which are mainly on the infrastructure of industrial parks and industrial clusters, and 4 socio-economic infrastructure projects. This is the basis for investors to research and invest in the fields that the province prioritizes to call for investment, which are also in accordance with the potential, available strengths and development orientation of the locality.

Regarding investment incentives, Vietnam's Updated Law on Investment (LOI) and Law on Enterprises (LOE), which entered into force on January 1, 2021, has delivered many contents on improving the business investment environment, creating more opportunities for investment cooperation and development. Along with applying the highest incentives in the Government’s preferential framework, Quang Binh also poses support policies on the site clearance and compensation; the construction of infrastructure and techniques outside the project's barrier; the expenses of labor training and some specific support policies.

These specific ones tend to focus on supporting enterprises in the investment of agriculture and rural areas (especially of beef cattle raising, agricultural product processing factories, and livestock - poultry slaughter establishments), as well as on supporting production linkages associated with the consumption of agricultural products in the province, with such contents aiming at providing the assistance for consulting costs of building linkages, the infrastructure serving the linkages, agricultural extension, the training on varieties, and materials, packaging, product labels...

Leaders of Quang Binh province also determined to create a breakthrough from the administrative reform, which brings a shifting from administrative to service administration, and to proactively enhance the focused investment in association with new cooperation criteria, in order to select interested and visionary investors, who are suitable to the sustainable development policy of Vietnam’s Government.

With the motto of cooperating for mutual development, the authorities of Quang Binh province are committed to doing their best in creating a safe and favorable environment for enterprises to produce and run businesses with sustainable efficiency.

The Provincial People's Committee will accompany investors in surveying and setting up the project, as well as throughout the process of bringing the project into operation, in order to assist investors in solving problems, untying difficulties, urging the implementation progress, and ensuring the investment efficiency for each project, as "the success of an enterprise is its contribution to Quang Binh’s socio-economic development”. That is also the message Quang Binh wishes to convey to investors, which aims at actualizing socio-economic expectations for the province to greatly develop and soon become a major tourist center in the region and the world.
