During the talks, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung warmly welcomed Prime Minister Brigitte Haas on her official visit to Vietnam, emphasizing that this is the first visit by a high-ranking Liechtenstein leader to Vietnam since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2008.

The Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam values its relationship with Liechtenstein and appreciates Liechtenstein's position and strengths in the fields of science, technology, innovation, finance, and the development of high-quality human resources.

These are areas with potential to complement Vietnam's development orientation, while also opening up opportunities to enhance connectivity between Vietnam, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA).

Expressing delight at the signing of the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) after 14 years of negotiations with 21 official negotiation rounds, along with the signing of the Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement between Vietnam and Liechtenstein, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung stated that these agreements will create a more favorable framework for trade and investment activities between the parties.

The Free Trade Agreement is expected to contribute to reducing tariffs and trade barriers, expanding market access, and strengthening business connectivity. The Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement will facilitate taxation, promote investment flows, and thereby contribute to the growth and prosperity of both countries.

Providing information on Vietnam's situation and development orientation, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung stated that Vietnam is striving to achieve strategic development goals by 2030 and 2045, aiming for a growth model based on science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation.

On this basis, the Prime Minister proposed that Liechtenstein enhance its sharing of experiences with Vietnam in developing and managing investment funds, banking activities, green finance, capital markets, and international asset management.

Regarding trade and investment cooperation, the Prime Minister suggested that both sides continue to facilitate market access for each other's goods, including Vietnam's key export items such as seafood and textiles.

Expressing thanks for the warm and hospitable reception from the Vietnamese side, Prime Minister Brigitte Haas stated her honour in making an official visit to Vietnam, emphasising that the visit is significant in promoting bilateral relations and creating opportunities to enhance dialogue and cooperation between the two countries.

Praising Vietnam's development achievements, growth potential, and strategic position, Prime Minister Brigitte Haas expressed a hope to expand bilateral cooperation in various fields, effectively leveraging opportunities from new cooperation agreements, with the Vietnam-EFTA Free Trade Agreement and the Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement between Vietnam and Liechtenstein being important milestones.

Both sides also agreed to strengthen connections between management agencies, research institutes, universities, and businesses; promote research cooperation, technology transfer, and the development of high-quality human resources.

Based on Liechtenstein's experience and strengths, both sides will enhance exchanges on investment fund management, asset management, banking activities, capital markets, and securities.

The two Prime Ministers agreed to promptly complete the ratification procedures for the Vietnam-EFTA Free Trade Agreement and promote its implementation once it comes into effect; and to enhance cooperation in green transition, circular economy, renewable energy, emission reduction, and climate change adaptation.

On regional and international issues, the two Prime Ministers agreed to continue coordinating and supporting each other at the United Nations and multilateral forums; promote multilateralism, respect for international law, support a rules-based multilateral trading system; and contribute positively to addressing common challenges for peace, stability, cooperation, and sustainable development in the region and the world.
