President Luong Cuong and King of Jordan hold talks to promote cooperation in key areas

During the talks, on behalf of the State and people of Vietnam, President Luong Cuong welcomed King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein to Vietnam. He affirmed the historical significance of the visit, marking the first high-level delegation exchange between the two countries since the establishment of diplomatic relations 45 years ago (1980-2025). He expressed hope that the visit would open a new chapter in the bilateral relations between the two nations.

The President congratulated Jordan on its developmental achievements over nearly 80 years since gaining independence, particularly the effective implementation of the "Economic Modernization Vision", focusing on sustainable and efficient economic reforms while ensuring social equity. He noted that these are crucial foundations for further promoting multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Jordan.
Highlighting the shared spirit of resilience and perseverance in the struggle for independence and national liberation, President Cuong affirmed that Vietnam values and desires to strongly, substantively, and effectively promote multifaceted cooperation with Jordan.
King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein expressed his delight at visiting Vietnam for the first time and congratulated Vietnam on its developmental achievements. He shared his condolences over the significant losses and damages suffered by Vietnam and its people in recent natural disasters.
Agreeing with President Cuong's assessment of the similarities between the two countries and peoples, King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein emphasized the invaluable assets of both nations: the diligence and creativity of their people, high-quality education, and efforts in scientific and technological development and digital transformation.
In an atmosphere of openness, sincerity, trust, and mutual understanding, the two leaders agreed that bilateral cooperation between Vietnam and Jordan has been modest and not commensurate with the potential and aspirations of both leaders and peoples. They agreed to usher the bilateral relationship into a new phase.
On this basis, President Luong Cuong and King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein agreed that both sides need to strengthen political trust through delegation exchanges, especially high-level ones.
Both sides also agreed on the effective implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs signed during the visit. They will explore early agreements to establish other cooperation mechanisms and soon appoint honorary consuls in each country to foster cooperation.

King Abdullah II suggested that the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs serve as focal points for discussing measures to promote bilateral cooperation, including harmonizing regulations to create a favorable legal framework for cooperation in various fields.
Based on the foundation of political trust, the two leaders agreed to promote cooperation in other key areas, including defense, security, information sharing, and exchanges of experts and officials between defense and security institutions to enhance mutual understanding and share experiences in fields of mutual interest.
In the economic sector, the two leaders agreed to facilitate market access for each other's key products and encourage businesses to explore cooperation and investment opportunities, particularly in infrastructure development, green economy, digital economy, telecommunications, manufacturing, and agricultural processing. They aim to boost the connection of startup and innovation ecosystems between the two countries.
King Abdullah II proposed that the two countries explore the early establishment of a direct flight route and facilitate visa issuance for citizens of both sides.
Highlighting Vietnam's agricultural strengths, President Luong Cuong emphasized Vietnam's readiness to increase exports of its key products to Jordan.
King Abdullah II expressed willingness to support Vietnam in developing the Halal industry by sharing information and experience on Halal certification and opening the market for Vietnamese Halal products.
The two leaders also discussed measures to promote cooperation in healthcare, a strength of Jordan, particularly in telemedicine and the application of technology in medicine.

In education and training, both sides agreed to enhance student and academic exchanges, particularly in emerging fields such as science and technology, artificial intelligence, and semiconductors, recognizing these as promising areas to open opportunities for the younger generations of both countries.
Regarding cooperation at multilateral forums, both sides agreed to continue consultations and support each other's candidacies, as well as act as a bridge to promote cooperation between the Arab League and ASEAN. They also exchanged views on international and regional issues of mutual concern, including the South China Sea issue.
* Following the talks between President Luong Cuong and King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein, Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Jordan signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs and a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam and the Jordanian Diplomatic Institute.
