PM meets with US Secretary of Commerce

Highlighting the remarkable advancement of the two-way trade, PM Phuc said the potential in economic and trade cooperation remains vast while affirming Viet Nam always implements trade commitments seriously.

He stressed that Viet Nam has imported many kinds of high-tech goods and services as well as input materials from the US for manufacturing.

The PM asked the US side to soon recognize Viet Nam’s market economy status and objectively evaluate the nature of trade deficit issue between the two countries.

He also expects that the US would facilitate the access of Vietnamese farm produce, including fruits and aquatic products to the US market.

According to Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross, both sides share the common goal of strengthening trade exchanges to the maximum on a balanced and mutual benefit basis.

He voiced support for stronger and more comprehensive ties between Viet Nam and the US.

The Department of Commerce will work with the Vietnamese side to deliberate on technical issues in order to boot trade exchanges, he said.

The same day, PM Phuc met with leaders of US business giants like ASG, McKinsey, Boeing, General Electrics, Murphy Oil, and Hilton among others.

He said the Government of Viet Nam welcomes more investments from the US, vowing to continue improving business and investment environment in favor of foreign investors, including those from the US.

The American business leaders affirmed their strong support for the development of the Viet Nam-US relations and for the Vietnamese Government’s ongoing efforts to create a fair playground for businesses.
