Numerous special activities to be held during 2nd Ninh Binh-Trang An festival

The second Ninh Binh - Trang An Festival, which is scheduled to run from December 26-31 in the northern province of Ninh Binh, will feature a wide range of special and attractive activities.

The festival will have four main activities, including the opening ceremony on December 26 evening in Trang An Landscape Complex; a programme entitled "The heritage quintessence of the southern region" on December 28 evening in the Trang An Landscape Complex; a programme entitled "The heritage quintessence of the north central region" and Laos-Vietnam cultural exchange programme on December 29 evening in Thung Nham ecological site; and the closing ceremony themed "The flaming of the ancient capital" to welcome the New Year in the Trang An Landscape Complex.

The distinctive highlight of the second festival is the opening ceremony which is carefully set the stage in the magical space of the natural and cultural heritage of the Trang An Landscape Complex.

The combination of rivers, mountains, music, lights and mapping projection technology, contemporary dances, and calligraphy interpreted by dance arts will create an evocative picture that tells a story about the history and culture of the ancient capital of Hoa Lu-Ninh Binh, and the quintessence of cultural colours of various localities across the country.

About 200 local boatmen will participate in diverse art programmes along with the participation of international art troupes from Udomxay province of Laos and cultural regions of Vietnam.

Nguyen Manh Cuong, Director of the provincial Department of Culture and Sports, said that the event aims to turn Ninh Binh into a major cultural hub and an ideal venue for international and national events in the near future.
