On March 21, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had announced: Due to the ongoing, complex development of Covid-19 epidemic around the world, in order to implement effective measures to prevent and control the spreading of the epidemic, the Government of Vietnam had decided to:
- Temporarily suspend all entries of foreign citizens to Vietnam, except for entries with diplomatic, official mission or special purposes (foreign guests visiting, attending important diplomatic activities; experts, business managers and high-technology workers).
- Relevant domestic authorities shall consider providing appropriate visa (if necessary) to entries with diplomatic, official mission or special purposes mentioned above. These cases must fulfill the examination procedure and mandatory medical declarations in a private area and under appropriate quarantine at their temporary residences in accordance with regulations.
- Temporarily suspend the effects of visa waivers provided to Vietnamese-born foreign citizens and relatives.
The above measures would come in effect by 0:00, March 22.
- People seeking entries to Vietnam must follow the process of medical examination and stay under quarantine, except for entries with diplomatic, official or special purposes (foreign guests visiting, attending important diplomatic activities; experts, business managers and high-technology workers).
- Foreign experts, business managers and high-technology workers, with appropriate medical confirmation of being negative to Covid-19 from their respective countries’ authoritative agencies affirmed by Vietnam, shall be allowed entries to Vietnam and closely quarantined at their temporary residences, in accordance to safety, diseases prevention guidelines.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs had notified diplomatic missions, consulates and representatives of international organizations in Vietnam, as well as Vietnamese diplomatic missions overseas to guarantee that foreign citizens would closely follow Vietnam’s regulations on preventing and controlling diseases.
