Laos awarded Order to Hai Phong Party Secretary
On April 27, Secretary of Hai Phong city’s Party Committee Le Tien Chau, who is former Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee, was awarded a second-class Freedom Order (Issara) of Laos for his contributions to cooperation in front work between the two countries.

The Order was presented by President of the Central Committee of the Lao Front for National Construction (LFNC) Sinlavong Khoutphaythoune as part of his working visit to the northern port city.
He affirmed that Chau’s contributions have helped strengthen the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, States and people of Laos and Vietnam.
Expressing his honour to receive such a valuable award, Chau said he hopes the Lao Party, Government, and the LFNC will support and create conditions to promote the time-honoured friendship, fraternal solidarity, multifaceted cooperation between the two countries in general and Hai Phong city and Vientiane and Udomxay provinces in particular.
According to the official, over the past years, cooperation between Hai Phong and the two Lao provinces has achieved good results in the fields of Party and administration building, education and training, healthcare, tourism, investment and trade.
Especially, in people-to-people diplomacy, the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association in Hai Phong is one of the largest associations of its kind in the country and operates regularly with 12 chapters and 3,700 members.
