Vietnam-Laos relations have continued to grow steadily in recent years, with close and trusted political relations playing a core role, guiding the overall direction of bilateral relations.
The two sides have coordinated well to organize a host of meetings between the two Politburos as well as meetings and visits of senior Party and State leaders, and successfully organized commemorative activities in the Vietnam – Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year 2022.

They have cooperated closely in the fields of security, defence, education and training.
Regarding investment cooperation, Vietnam has so far run 241 investment projects in Laos with a total investment capital of roughly US$5.47 billion. Bilateral trade between two countries hit more than US$1.7 billion last year, up 24% compared to 2021, with US$959 million being recorded during the past 7 months of 2023.
Cooperation between the two foreign ministries is increasingly developing in a practical and effective direction. The two sides actively implemented the Cooperation Agreement between the two foreign ministries for the 2021-2025 period, and coordinated to successfully organize the 8th Deputy Foreign Minister-level political consultation.
Both sides regularly exchange information and compare notes on international and regional issues at multilateral forums.
