Indonesian ensemble performs contemporary music in Ha Noi

Indonesian artists present a concert in Ha Noi on September 6 as part of an exchange programme in contemporary music between The New Yogyakarta Contemporary Ensemble (NYCE) from Indonesia and the Ha Noi New Music Ensemble.

The guest artists, including the NYCE’s founder – leading Indonesian cellist Asep Hidayat, composer and conductor Aldy Maulana, soprano Ika Wahyuningsih, pianist Yuti Lauda, guitarist Jardika Eka Tirtana, Neam cellist S.R Hidayat, violinist Ega Putra Twedapinta, and clarinet artist Alfian Agus Nursanto, will present a repertoire of Indonesian contemporary music.

Founded in October 2017, the NYCE perform both Western and Indonesian music. The ensemble stands out by taking music from other countries and translating it into a new language.

Earlier, in July, members of the Ha Noi New Music Ensemble travelled to Yogyakarta for a concert at the invitation of the NYCE. This music exchange programme is supported by the Goethe Institute.
