During the meeting, Governor of Maharashtra State warmly welcomed General Secretary, President To Lam and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, expressing the honour of hosting Vietnam's top leader in Mumbai, the capital of Maharashtra. The Governor's Residence, where the meeting took place, is a site that President Ho Chi Minh visited during his 1958 trip to India.

The Governor also shared insights into the potential and strengths of Maharashtra and Mumbai, expressing a desire to enhance cooperation with Vietnam in areas with significant complementary potential such as finance, information technology, logistics, infrastructure development, smart cities, culture, cinema, and tourism, including spiritual tourism.

For his part, General Secretary, President To Lam expressed his pleasure in visiting Maharashtra and Mumbai, the vibrant economic heart of India and South Asia, and the film capital known for movies beloved by the Vietnamese people.

During the meeting, General Secretary, President To Lam emphasized that Vietnam-India relations are built on a strong foundation of traditional friendship and high political trust. He affirmed that this visit aims to create new momentum to boost cooperation, particularly in the fields of economy, finance, and investment.

Sharing the outcomes of the Vietnam-India Business Forum, where numerous cooperation agreements were signed, General Secretary, President To Lam hoped this would be a catalyst, driving economic, trade, and investment cooperation between the two sides.

The General Secretary, President welcomed the establishment of a sister city agreement between Ho Chi Minh City and Mumbai – the first of its kind, setting a strong precedent and motivation for localities in both countries to enhance cooperation and connectivity.

On this occasion, both sides agreed that the two economies have enormous potential and high complementarity, with ample room for further development in Vietnam-India cooperation. The General Secretary, President suggested that the Governor focus on promoting stronger connections between Mumbai and Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and other localities in Vietnam.

The Governor of Maharashtra expressed full agreement with the specific directions proposed by General Secretary, President To Lam and affirmed a commitment to actively encourage the state's agencies and businesses to enhance cooperation with Vietnamese partners, thereby contributing to deepening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and India in the coming time.
