General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping to pay state visit to Vietnam

At the invitation of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam and President Luong Cuong, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and President of China Xi Jinping will pay a state visit to Vietnam from April 14 to 15, according to the an announcement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on April 11, 2025.

Since the establishment of the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership in 2008, the relationship between the two Parties and the two States has grown increasingly substantive, solid, and comprehensive across all areas.

Economic, trade, and investment cooperation between Vietnam and China has deepened significantly. China has been Vietnam’s largest trading partner for 20 consecutive years, while Vietnam is currently China's largest trading partner in ASEAN and its fourth-largest globally.

Bilateral trade turnover has increased ninefold, from USD 20 billion in 2008 to nearly USD 180 billion in 2022. Over the past 15 years, Chinese investment in Vietnam has risen more than tenfold—from a cumulative total of USD 2 billion in 2008 to USD 25 billion today. In 2023 alone, China became the fourth-largest investor among all countries and territories investing in Vietnam.

People-to-people exchanges and local-level cooperation have been vibrant, with nearly 60 Vietnamese provinces and cities establishing friendly cooperative relations with Chinese localities.
