Friendship Medal granted to Australian Ambassador to Viet Nam

The award is to honor the tireless efforts and active contribution by the Australian Ambassador to the enhancement of friendship and Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Australia.

Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son said that over the last 3 years, even in the hardest time of COVID-19 pandemic, Ambassador Mudie has played a pivotal role in promoting the relations between Vietnam and Australia in all fields.

Many visits, meetings and phone calls/video-conferences of the two countries' senior leaders have been held. Important high-level agreements between the two sides have been signed and implemented.

The bilateral economic cooperation has witnessed spectacular breakthroughs.

Within the multilateral frameworks, Australia actively supported Vietnam in our 2020 ASEAN Chairmanship and our role as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council in 2020-2021.

The Foreign Minister also highly appreciated the Ambassador’s role in promoting the Australian Government timely vaccine support to Vietnam, especially vaccines for children ranging from 5 to 11 years old.

According to Minister Son, the Friendship Medal demonstrates the profound appreciation for the Ambassador’s important contributions to the development of the Viet Nam-Australia Strategic Partnership.

Expressing her honour of receiving the Friendship Medal, the Australian Ambassador expressed her sincere thanks to the Vietnamese State President and other senior leaders.

She highly appreciates the support and cooperation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other related ministries, sectors and localities during her tenure in Vietnam.

The diplomat also affirmed to continue contributing to the development of the friendly and cooperative ties between Vietnam and Australia in the future.

Ambassador Robyn Mudie is a very close friend of Vietnam. She is not only a senior diplomat but also among a few foreign Ambassadors who have been posted twice in Vietnam and can speak Vietnamese.
