Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son to pay official visit to China

WVR - On April 3-4, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son will pay an official visit to China, aimed at further concretizing the high-level shared understanding in maintaining the positive momentum of development in the Vietnam-China relationship.

On March 28, at the Ministry’s regular press conference, Deputy Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Duc Thang announced that, at the invitation from Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son will pay an official visit to China from April 3-4, 2024.

Over the time, the Vietnam - China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership has maintained positive development, achieving many significant outcomes. The leaders of both Parties and States maintain frequent exchanges and contacts, strengthening political trust, the Deputy Spokesperson emphasized. Notably, there were the visits of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to China in October 2022 and subsequently the state-level visit to Vietnam by General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping, in December 2023.

According to Deputy Spokesperson Thang, the official visit to China by Foreign Minister Thanh Son holds significant importance, demonstrating the importance both countries attach to the bilateral friendly relations. The visit also aims to further concretize the high-level shared understanding in maintaining the positive development momentum of the Vietnam-China relationship.

This is also an opportunity for both sides to review and identify focal points for bilateral relations in 2024 and the following years, thereby contributing to deepening and elevating the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, and building a future-oriented community of shared future with strategic significance.

It is expected that during the visit, Foreign Minister Son will hold talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, meet with leaders of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, visit the Ho Chi Minh Memorial House in Longzhou (Guangxi), and participate in other important activities.
