She made the comment at the ministry’s regular press conference held virtually on November 4 with regard to reports that Viet Nam Airlines is to conduct the first regular commercial flight to the US, slated for late November, after 20 years of preparation.

"This preparation has been made during a long time and with close cooperation between Vietnamese and US authorities,” she said.

The diplomat informed that recently, Viet Nam Airlines has received approval from US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for its aviation transport safety plan, paving the way for the airline to be licensed to carry out regular flights between the two countries.

According to her, Vietnamese competent agencies are coordinating to complete final procedures for the carrier to realise its flight plan. They will continue assisting other airlines that wish to and are capable of operating direct flights to the US.
