Deputy PM hosts Germany’s Hessen state minister

Two-way trade between Vietnam and Hessen state currently stands at around US$1 billion, or one-eighth of trade value between Vietnam and Germany, Binh said whilst hailing cooperation between Hessen and Vietnam through the Vietnam – Germany University project which is dubbed as a “lighthouse” in bilateral ties.

As both nations are celebrating the 45th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties this year which will see more visits and a host of major celebrations, including the Vietnam Culture Days in Germany.

Binh suggested Minister Dorn incentivize local businesses to invest in Vietnam in the areas of chemicals, pharmaceuticals, mechanical engineering, support industry, farm produce processing, and production of natural rubber.

He underlined the need for the two sides to develop economic, trade and investment ties, as well as take full advantage of new opportunities from the European Union - Vietnam Free Trade Agreement.

The Deputy PM also asked the German guest to offer all possible support to Vietnamese firms to do effective business in the state, step up education and vocational training cooperation with Vietnam, and provide the best possible conditions for the Vietnamese community in the country.

The German minister, said Hessen greatly values Vietnam’s long-standing culture and described economic and cultural factors as the the most important bridge connecting the two countries.

Three leading European universities in Germany are strong in vaccine production, and willing to provide funding to Vietnamese scientists' joint study on vaccines against COVID-19 outbreak with them within 1-3 months, she added.
