Deputy FM Le Thi Thu Hang receives General Director of Zarubezhneft Vietnam

WVR - On January 29, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang met with Mr. Aleksander Mikhaylov, General Director of Zarubezhneft Vietnam, to evaluate the cooperation results of 2025 and discuss tasks and solutions for 2026.

During the meeting, on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' leadership, Deputy Foreign Minister Thu Hang highly appreciated the efforts of Zarubezhneft Group and Zarubezhneft Vietnam in collaborating with PetroVietnam and Vietnamese partners to implement agreements and commitments made by the high-level leaders of both countries and the signed documents in the oil and gas sector.

The Deputy Minister affirmed that Vietnam always values and wishes to develop the long-standing traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia. The solid and high political trust between the two countries provides extremely favourable conditions for Zarubezhneft and businesses to promote cooperation in all fields, maximizing the potential and strengths of both sides, based on mutual benefit and serving the development of each country both now and in the future.

The Deputy Minister emphasized that Vietnam always considers energy and oil and gas cooperation as one of the main pillars of the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership, in which the traditional cooperation between PetroVietnam (now the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group) and Zarubezhneft plays an important role.

For 2026 and the following years, it is proposed that both sides focus on effectively implementing the documents signed during General Secretary To Lam's visit to Russia in May 2025, enhancing oil and gas exploration and extraction activities in the Russian Federation and Vietnam's continental shelf, and expanding cooperation into other areas, especially infrastructure development and renewable energy, including wind and solar power. The Deputy Minister affirmed that the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs always supports and will contribute to promoting the expansion of Vietnam-Russia energy and oil and gas cooperation in general and between Zarubezhneft and Vietnamese enterprises in particular.

During the meeting, Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang emphasized that Vietnam always considers energy and oil and gas acooperation as one of the main pillars of the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership.

Mr. Aleksander Mikhaylov informed Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang about the operational results of Zarubezhneft Vietnam and the ongoing work to implement the cooperation documents, agreements, and high-level commitments in recent times. He agreed with the cooperation directions outlined by Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang and affirmed that Zarubezhneft Vietnam will make every effort to utilize its experience and existing infrastructure, as well as the favorable conditions of the bilateral relationship, to enhance cooperation effectiveness with Vietnam in the energy and oil and gas sector, in line with the desires and interests of both parties. The General Director of Zarubezhneft Vietnam hopes to continue receiving attention and support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant Vietnamese agencies in the future.

Both sides agreed to regularly exchange and coordinate with the relevant agencies of both countries to timely seize opportunities and resolve any difficulties or obstacles that may arise, ensuring that the energy and oil and gas sector continues to be a symbol of effective cooperation between Vietnam and Russia in the new era.
