Danish Crown Prince congratulates Vietnam on National Day

WVR - Crown Prince of Denmark Frederik, the Guest of Honour, congratulated Vietnam on its 77th National Day and expressed his delight at the fine development of the two countries’ relations while attending a reception hosted by the Vietnamese Embassy.

On the evening of September 5, on the occasion of the 77th National Day September 2, and within the framework of activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Denmark and coincide with the 50th anniversary of the Enthronement of the Queen of Denmark Margrethe II, who has maintained special affection for Vietnam, at the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek Museum, the Vietnamese Embassy in Denmark held a celebration to mark the National Day.

At the reception, Crown Prince of Denmark Frederik announced that in early November, he and Crown Princess Mary will lead a delegation of businesses operating in green growth to pay an official visit to Vietnam to promote bilateral cooperation in wind power and the effective use of energy.

Attending the ceremony also were Danish State Secretary for Trade and Global Sustainability Lina Hansen, representatives of Danish ministries and agencies, Ambassadors, Heads of diplomatic missions in Copenhagen, representatives of large Danish companies, corporations, investment funds, representatives of a number of leading Danish Universities and Research Institutes, the Vietnam-Denmark Friendship Association, the former Danish Ambassadors to Vietnam and Danish friends who have had much affection and practical contributions to the Vietnam-Denmark relations.

There were also representatives of overseas Vietnamese, businessmen, intellectuals and representatives of the Vietnamese student community in Denmark.

At the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador Luong Thanh Nghi recalled the achievements Vietnam has gained over the past 77 years, from a poor, underdeveloped and war-torn nation to one of the most dynamic economies in the world, an attractive destination of international tourists and investors, and a responsible member of the international community with increasing position and reputation.

The Ambassador attributed the achievements to continuous efforts of Vietnam itself and support from other countries and partners, including Denmark.

Potential for Vietnam-Denmark bilateral cooperation remains huge, he noted, adding that the Embassy will exert every effort to consolidate and deepen the Vietnam-Denmark relations for each country’s development and for the interests of their people and enterprises.

Danish State Secretary for Trade and Global Sustainability Lina Hansen affirmed that Vietnam is currently one of Denmark’s leading important partners, and the two countries hold great potential to expand their cooperation in the coming time. The Comprehensive Partnership is the foundation for the cooperation between the two countries in areas where the two sides share many common interests.

At the reception, the Vietnamese Embassy in Denmark organized a number of promotional activities to introduce Vietnamese culture, art and cuisine. The guests could enjoy traditional Vietnamese dishes prepared by Vietnamese chefs, and also relish a unique art program which eleganly combined academic and classic with contemporary elements, bringing the breath of life and the mixture of Vietnamese and Danish music, with the performance of leading artists of the two countries, such as pianist Nguyen Viet Trung (Vietnamese overseas in Poland), contrabass artist Chris Minh Doky (Vietnamese-Danish), musician Tri Minh, singer Hong Nhung and dancers from the Royal Danish Theater collaborated on the choreography.

Within the framework of activities of "Vietnam Day in Denmark", besides "Vietnam-Denmark Business Forum", the Embassy held an art exhibition introduced a collection of paintings by painter Dang Duong Bang and other famous Vietnamese artists to the Danish audience. Cultural and artistic activities in the program were vivid demontration of the talents and creativity of Vietnamese people.

In the coming time, the Vietnamese Embassy in Denmark will continue to organize activities to introduce and promote Vietnamese culture, cuisine and art to Danish friends, contributing to enhancing cultural and people-to-people exchanges to build affection and mutual understanding between Vietnam and Denmark.
