Ceremony to celebrate Israel’s 75th Independence Day held in Hanoi

WVR - On May 30, in Hanoi, the Embassy of Israel in Vietnam held a ceremony to celebrate 75th anniversary of Israeli Independence Day (1948-2023) and the 30th anniversary of the bilateral diplomatic ties between Israel and Vietnam (1993-2023).

In his remarks, Ambassador Yaron Mayer said that Israel and Vietnam have enjoyed close and friendly diplomatic relations since 1993, characterized by a growing partnership across multiple sectors. The bilateral ties are developing strongly in economy and technology. High-level visits and cultural exchanges have further enhanced the friendship between the two countries, fostered mutual understanding, promoted people to people dialogue, introduced study opportunities and increased tourism, he noted.

The Ambassador added that, in the spirit of friendship, Israel and Vietnam are committed to knowledge transfer, cooperation in innovation and supporting startups. The bilateral trade has exceeded 2 billion US dollars, the recent conclusion of negotiations on the Vietnam-Israel Free Trade Agreement is expected to further facilitate higher levels of trade, as well as mutual investments.

On behalf of the Vietnamese Government and people, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ha Kim Ngoc extended congratulations to the Israeli people on their great achievements in the cause of nation-building and development, transforming Israel into one of the economic, scientific, technological and innovation hubs of the region and the world. He expressed his hope that the Israeli people will continue to uphold the unyielding spirit and promote innovation so as to achieve greater successes in the process of building a prosperous and happy country.

Since Vietnam and Israel established their diplomatic ties on July 12, 1993, their multifaceted cooperation has been developing constantly, and the two countries have become leading important partners in Southeast Asia and the Middle East, the official continued.

Cooperation achievements in such spheres as economy, science-technology, high-tech agriculture, and people-to-people exchange have contributed to consolidating and promoting the friendship between the two countries.

The VIFTA, the first between Vietnam and a Middle Eastern country, is expected to be signed on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the bilateral diplomatic ties, he said, stressing that the deal will contribute to perfecting the legal framework and creating breakthroughs for economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries in the time ahead.

The Deputy Foreign Minister also spoke highly of Israel’s admission of Vietnamese agricultural trainees, who have successfully applied cutting-edge technologies in agricultural projects after returning home, contributing to the development of the Vietnamese farming sector as well as the bilateral friendship.

With the consistent foreign policy of independence and self-reliance, being a good friend, a reliable partner of other countries and an active and responsible member of the international community, Viet Nam wishes to contribute to common efforts striving for peace, cooperation and development, thus creating a bright future for the region and the world, he said.

He expressed his belief that with the desire and will of the Governments and peoples of the two countries, the multifaceted cooperation between Viet Nam and Israel will continue to blossom in all fields in the time to come.
