The Vietnamese Tet as a tradition of Vietnam should be respected and observed with reverence. It is the beginning of a new year and people take the opportunity to express their gratitude for the year that just finished and pray for the new one. It is also a moment to honor the ancestors.

My plan for the Tet is to stay calm at home with my family and enjoy Hanoi with less traffic and specially less motorbikes!

I have the best aspirations for the relationship between Brazil and Vietnam. Both countries value peace and stability. Both have good relations with their neighbors. Both people are friendly, warm, optimistic with the future and both aspire happiness through a joyful approach to life. Brazil and Vietnam have excellent diplomatic relations. Last year we commemorated 35 years of diplomatic relations.

Recently Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited Brazil twice, a bilateral visit in 2023 and participation in G-20 last year, in Rio de Janeiro. In both occasions he and President Lula had excellent meetings, in a friendly atmosphere, and exchanged views on world politics.

In 2025, we expect a bilateral visit from President Lula to Vietnam. We hope these high level visits can promote more political, economic and cultural exchange between our both countries. The bilateral relations could not be in a better moment.

The world is going through a period of momentous change. The persistence of regional conflicts and menacing global challenges, such as climate change, artificial intelligence and the risk of pandemics, affect the whole of humanity. All these global problems cannot be dealt individually by any country. In order to face them successfully we need a common approach and global solutions.

As a fast developing country, Vietnam is increasingly subjected to all these challenges. Through its skillful diplomacy, it has been able not only to attract important investments but also to tackle all challenges successfully, becoming an important actor in world affairs, contributing to dialogue and cooperation not only in the region but also internationally. The road ahead is difficult and bumpy. It will require strength and determination. So far the Vietnamese government has been up to the task and deserves our admiration and steem.
