Attending the ceremony were leaders of several functional units under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, representatives of the Ministry’s Office, the Department of Organization and Personnel, and key officials from the Department of Cryptography and Information Technology.
At the ceremony, on behalf of the Ministry’s leadership, Deputy PM and Minister Bui Thanh Son presented the decision appointing Mr. Vu Tien Dung, senior specialist (rank 6/8), as Director General of the Department of Cryptography and Information Technology.
This important appointment reflects the trust of the Party Committee and the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Mr. Vu Tien Dung, recognizing his dedication, growth, and contributions in the field of information technology and information security within the diplomatic sector.

In his remarks, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son highly appreciated Mr. Vu Tien Dung’s contributions throughout his career and emphasized that this appointment is not only a recognition of his professional competence but also a testament to his strong political integrity, high sense of responsibility, professional conduct, and strategic vision in the digital transformation era.

Highlighting the crucial role of the Department of Cryptography and Information Technology in the context of increasingly digitalized modern diplomacy, the Deputy Prime Minister urged Mr. Vu Tien Dung and the Department's leadership and staff to uphold the tradition of unity, maintain discipline, improve the quality of advisory work, and effectively carry out tasks related to information safety, cybersecurity, the protection of classified documents, as well as the application of new technologies in all aspects of the Ministry’s operations.
He specifically emphasized that, as the Ministry is actively implementing its National Digital Transformation Programme by 2025 with a vision towards 2030, the Department must take the lead in providing technical and technological advice, ensuring that foreign affairs information systems remain secure, uninterrupted, modern, and effectively integrated with national e-government and digital government systems.
This is not only a professional duty but also a critical political task that contributes to enhancing the State’s capacity in foreign affairs management, reaffirming the Ministry’s pioneering role in the modernization of Vietnam’s national administration.
The Deputy Prime Minister also expressed hope that all units within the Ministry would continue to support and closely coordinate with the Department of Cryptography and Information Technology in implementing programs and projects related to digital infrastructure, information security, and the training of high-quality IT personnel serving foreign affairs.

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Vu Tien Dung expressed his honour and pride at being entrusted with the new responsibility by the Ministry’s leadership, and extended his sincere thanks for the support, guidance, and mentorship of the Ministry’s leadership and colleagues throughout his career.
He affirmed his determination to make every effort to fulfill his duties, uphold a sense of responsibility, pioneer innovation, proactively coordinate with relevant units, maintain strict discipline, and build upon the legacy and achievements of previous generations of the department.

He also pledged to continuously learn and enhance his professional qualifications, build a united and strong team, and successfully fulfill all tasks entrusted by the Party, the State, and the Ministry’s leadership.
