Attending the meeting were Chairwoman Rositsa Kirova, Vice-Chairpersons, and members of the Group, who are parliamentarians from various specialized committees of the Bulgarian National Assembly.
During the meeting, Ambassador Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet highly appreciated the establishment of the Bulgaria-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Group by the 52nd Bulgarian National Assembly, which includes parliamentarians from various political forces. She considered this a vivid expression of the friendship and broad support for relations with Vietnam within the Bulgarian National Assembly.
The Ambassador emphasized that the establishment of the Strategic Partnership during the official visit to Bulgaria by General Secretary To Lam in October 2025 has opened a new phase of development in bilateral relations.
After more than 70 years of building trust and friendship, it is now crucial to implement the new relationship framework with concrete results that bring tangible benefits to the people and businesses of both countries.
The Ambassador proposed enhancing exchanges between the National Assembly, the two Friendship Parliamentary Groups, and specialized committees; promoting cooperation in areas with significant potential such as economy, trade, investment, science and technology, education and training, tourism, labor, culture, and people-to-people exchanges.
In discussions with the Ambassador, Chairwoman Rositsa Kirova and Bulgarian parliamentarians highly valued the traditional friendship and Vietnam's development achievements. Some parliamentarians who have visited Vietnam shared their impressions of the country's rapid development, the dynamism of its economy, and the diversity of its culture and tourism.

According to Chairwoman Rositsa Kirova, Vietnam and Bulgaria have a special relationship, nurtured not only through state relations but also by generations of people from both countries. In the current phase, both sides need to create new content for this longstanding friendship through cooperation areas that align with each country's development needs.
Bulgarian parliamentarians believe that the excellent political relations should be more clearly reflected in economic, trade, and investment cooperation. There is ample room to expand relations between businesses and localities; Chairwoman Rositsa Kirova suggested further promoting twinning relationships between cities and localities in Vietnam and Bulgaria.
Education and tourism also garnered attention from the parliamentarians. Many generations of Vietnamese have studied and been trained in Bulgaria, creating a special foundation for bilateral relations. The parliamentarians suggested building on this foundation by enhancing exchanges between educational institutions, students, and youth; while promoting destination marketing, tourist exchanges, and people-to-people interactions.
Members of the Group also expressed interest in labor cooperation, given Bulgaria's demand for workforce in certain sectors. They appreciated the diligence of Vietnamese workers and believed that both countries could continue to explore cooperation in this area based on each side's needs and regulations.
Bulgarian parliamentarians emphasised that the Vietnam-Bulgaria relationship has a foundation of friendship built over decades and enjoys broad consensus, transcending party differences. This provides a favorable basis for the two countries to expand cooperation in the new phase.
Both sides agreed to maintain regular exchanges, leveraging the role of the two Friendship Parliamentary Groups and the Embassy in promoting areas of mutual interest. Parliamentary cooperation is expected to help transform the longstanding foundation of friendship and political trust between Vietnam and Bulgaria into concrete cooperation outcomes in the Strategic Partnership phase.
