On May 27, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters, Deputy Foreign Minister Ha Kim Ngoc welcomed Editor-in-Chief Le The Chu of Tuoi Tre newspaper. Also present were representatives from the Department of Cultural Diplomacy and UNESCO, the Department of Northeast Asia, the Department of Press and Information, and The World & Vietnam Report.

Deputy Minister Ha Kim Ngoc praised the collaboration between Tuoi Tre newspaper and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in foreign information work, emphasizing "the partnership and support for the diplomatic sector."

Editor-in-Chief Le The Chu expressed gratitude to the Ministry for its past support in foreign information tasks and organizing international events, particularly the annual Day of Pho. In 2023, for the first time, Tuoi Tre collaborated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and related agencies to hold the Vietnam Pho Festival at Yoyogi Park in Tokyo, Japan.

Taking Pho "abroad" not only promotes the image of the country, its culture, and its people but also contributes to cultural ties and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.

Following the success of Vietnam's Day of Pho in Japan, this year, the events will be held in the Republic of Korea (RoK) this coming autumn.

Editor-in-Chief Le The Chu hopes the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to support connections with agencies in the RoK, Korea-Vietnam and Vietnam-Korea friendship associations, and related organizations in the RoK during the venue selection and planning process.

He believes that the 2024 Day of Pho will leave a significant impact on the people of the RoK, international friends, and the Vietnamese community there, and contribute to the nomination of Pho for UNESCO recognition as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Deputy Minister Ha Kim Ngoc appreciates the idea of organizing the Day of Pho in the RoK by Tuoi Tre newspaper and believes that bringing Pho to international friends not only promotes a signature Vietnamese dish but also conveys a message about the cultural essence and people of Vietnam.

Currently, Vietnamese cuisine is becoming increasingly popular and has a certain global presence. In many countries, it's easy to find a Vietnamese restaurant, and Pho is often one of the most popular dishes.

Particularly, Vietnamese cuisine is not only present in everyday life but also participates in diplomatic activities, serving as a "soft power" that helps define Vietnam's values and influence on the international stage.

The Deputy Minister affirmed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, related units, and Vietnamese representative agencies abroad will closely coordinate with Tuoi Tre newspaper in organizing the program.

After being held domestically for 7 years, Vietnam’s Day of Pho "went abroad" for the first time to Japan in 2023.

2024 will be the second time Vietnamese Pho "goes abroad," and the destination is the RoK - a country with many cultural and culinary similarities to Vietnam. Over 4 million RoK tourists visited Vietnam in the first four months of this year.

Vietnam’s Day of Pho program is organized by Tuoi Tre newspaper in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and various businesses.
