A new flavor to Vietnamese’s tastes in movies

Being appeared in Viet Nam since 2010, Philippines TV series have quickly become the “soul food” for many Vietnamese audiences, especially those in the countryside.

When the TV series Only You was first broadcast on Vietnam's Today TV in 2010, it brought an entirely new flavor to the audience since they were already “fed up with” many Korean and Chinese dramas. After more than a decade, Filipino movies have dominated the market share on Vietnamese television and continued to capture the heart of the audience.

Numerous favourite films

It’s hard to name all Filipino movies that have aired on SNTV and Today TV channels. These movies are not only aired on the two channels’ golden hour time frames but also on other TV channels such as BTV1, BTV2, VTV9, Dong Nai 1.

Most Philippines’ TV shows focus on the tragedies in family life, melancholic romance and schemes for power, inheritance... Dramatic shows have created their own features and attracted a certain amount of Vietnamese audience.

Eastern culture, especially in Southeast Asia has been reflected on screen through characters, dialogue, movie settings, which makes it easier for the audience to approach Filipino movies and culture.

In many films, although there are no flashy images or epic scenes, the country, people and life of the Filipinos are still conveyed on the small screen enticingly and artistically. Moral stories and happy endings in Filipino movies can easily warm the hearts of any viewer.

The actor born in 1980 is famous for his perfect body, attractive face and exquisite acting skills. The couple and their kids’ daily life always attracts special attention from the Vietnamese audience, especially on social media.
