Tao Quan or "Kitchen’s Gods", which is the most anticipated satirical show on Vietnam's national television at every year-end over the past 16 years, will likely stop airing this year.

Accordingly, comedian Chi Trung, who usually plays a senior official in the show, said that the Kitchen’s Gods will be replaced by another show in Lunar New Year 2020. Information about the new show format still remains undisclosed.

Meanwhile, some usual actors and actresses of the show affirmed that they have not been invited to cast yet and it is unknown whether the show will air or not.

The Kitchen’s Gods is considered a traditional show of the lunar new year on television. The show, which was first launched in 2003, is originated from a new-year special episode of the Vietnam Television’s famous comedy show "Gap Nhau Cuoi Tuan” or Weekend Gathering.

The main plot of the show is based on the Vietnamese folk tales of the gods of kitchen focusing on satirizing some pressing issues of the past year in various fields including economy, environment, education, among others, from a humorous angle and ways of acting.

Over the past few years, the show has been said to be not as good as before with too many ads and fail to depict the true panorama of flag issues of the past year.
