Vietnamese first lady visits charitable organization in Ethiopia

The trip to the organization is part of her husband’s state visit to Ethiopia over August 23 – 25 in the aim of seeking measures to promote relations between Vietnam and Ethiopia, particularly in economics and trade.

President Tran Dai Quang’s first lady Nguyen Thi Hien offered gifts to patients.

Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia- a registered charitable organisation in Ethiopia which was set up in 1974- is dedicated to the treatment and prevention of childbirth injuries called obstetric fistula.

The same day, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam in collaboration with the Foreign Ministry of Ethiopia hosted the Vietnam – Ethiopia business forum, seeing the attendance of more than 300 enterprises from both nations.

A host of meetings also took place between Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh and Ethiopian Trade Minister Melaku Alebel; Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong and Ethiopian Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Shiferaw Shigute; and Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung and Deputy Ministers of Communications and Information Technology Sisay Tola Yadete and Mebra Mariam Kallo.

President Quang and his wife will leave for Egypt on August 25 for a five-day State visit at the invitation of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
