Vietnamese citizens return home safely from RoK, Taiwan (China) on August 19: Foreign Ministry

More than 230 Vietnamese citizens from the Republic of Korea (RoK) and about 290 Vietnamese citizens in Taiwan (China) were flown home on August 19.

This was thanks to the coordination of Vietnamese relevant agencies, the Vietnamese Embassy in the RoK, and the budget airline Vietjet with the RoK counterparts.

Passengers on the flight include under-18 children, the elderly, workers with expired labor contracts, and others from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The Vietnamese Embassy in the RoK dispatched officials to support citizens at the airport.

Security, safety and hygiene measures were strictly implemented during the flight.

Right after landing at Can Tho International Airport in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho, all passengers and crew members underwent medical check-ups and started being quarantined as regulated.

On the same day, the Vietnamese authorities, Vietnam Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei, the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines, and relevant agencies of Taiwan have coordinated to arrange a flight to bring home about 290 Vietnamese citizens in Taiwan (China).

Passengers were those with special disadvantages, including the elderly, students under 18, workers with expired labor contracts, pregnant women, ill persons, and stranded tourists.

The Vietnam Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei sent staff to assist the citizens to handle boarding procedures at the airport.

Security, safety and hygiene measures were carried out throughout the flight to protect their health and prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Upon landing at Cam Ranh International Airport in the central province of Khanh Hoa, those onboard received health check-ups and sent to concentrated quarantine facilities.

More flights are set to be conducted in the time ahead to repatriate Vietnamese citizens with disadvantaged circumstances.
