Vietnam - Laos exchange of border guards, teachers, and students

On November 10, at the Boundary Marker No 591, a meeting was taken place to exchange the experience and send gifts to to border protection forces; teachers and students of La Co Ethnic Minority Boarding Secondary School (Se Pon district, Savannakhet province) and Huong Viet High School and Junior High School (Huong Hoa, Quang Tri, Vietnam).

The meeting was organized by Huong Lap Border Guard Station, Quang Tri Border Guard in coordination with Border Guard Unit 321, Military Headquarter of Savannakhet Province, Laos.

There were many exciting activities such as reviewing the traditions of special solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Laos; exchanging a number of contents, coordination activities, and border protection management between the two forces in recent times. Teachers and students of Huong Viet High School and Secondary School (Huong Hoa district, Quang Tri province) and La Co Ethnic Boarding Secondary School (Se Pon district, Savannakhet province) exchanged experiences in teaching and learning; cultural, artistic and sports exchanges between forces, etc.

At the meeting, Huong Lap Border Guard Station donated 300 winter blankets; 383 winter life jackets; 200 pairs of sandals; 800kg of rice; 150 bottles of fish sauce; 50kg of sugar with a total value of over 120 million VND to Border Guard Unit 321; officials, teachers and students of Huong Viet High School and Secondary School and La Co Ethnic Boarding Primary School and Secondary School and households with particularly difficult circumstances of Huong Viet commune, La Co village cluster.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Bun Lom Su Pha Mi Xay, Deputy Secretary of Se Pon District Party Committee, said: "We highly appreciate this event, because this is an activity to consolidate the special friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Laos, between Quang Tri - Savannakhet province, between Huong Hoa - Se Pon district. This model, if replicated across the border, will contribute to protecting border sovereignty and tightening the relations between border guards, teachers, students, and especially the people of the two countries”.

This meaningful work will help the border protection force and the people of Huong Viet commune and La Co village cluster to become more and more united.

Colonel Dinh Xuan Hung, Secretary of the Party Committee, Political Commissar of the Border Guard of Quang Tri province emphasized that in order to tighten the special friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Laos, over the years, the Quang Tri Border Guard has paid great attention to take care of Lao’ units. Upon that, each border station, based on the actual situation, proactively proposes to implement meaningful programs and tasks.

The Quang Tri Border Guard Command highly appreciated the fact that Huong Lap Border Guard Station organized an exchange program for the first time, exchanging experiences and giving gifts to border guard forces, teachers and students from Laos.

The Quang Tri Border Guard Headquarter highly appreciated that for the first time, Huong Lap Border Guard Station organized an meeting to exchange experiences and send gifts to Lao border guard forces, teachers and students.

This meaningful work will help the border protection force and the people of Huong Viet commune and La Co village cluster to become more and more united; consider each other as relatives; actively participating in mass movements to protect national security; self-managing borders, border stones; maintaining security and order in villages, etc.; contributing to maintaining political security, social order and safety and develop economy, etc.

Nang De, a 6th grade student at La Co Ethnic Minority Boarding Secondary School (Sepon district, Laos), emotionally shared: "It’s the first time I attended the meeting, I met the teachers and friends in Huong Viet, along with the soldiers, also received gifts. My friends and I no longer worry about the cold coming winter this year. Through the program, I also understand the responsibility of our young generation today to preserve this affection and solidarity together."
