What are the highlight activities of the upcoming visit during his time in Vietnam? What are your expectations for this visit?

The President’s schedule includes meetings with the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, as well as with the Secretary General of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Chairman of the National Assembly and the Prime Minister.

Other important items in the agenda include a business forum, a lecture at the Diplomatic Academy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, meetings with the Vietnam-Bulgaria Friendship Association and with Vietnamese companies, a visit to Haiphong city and others.

A number of bilateral agreements will be signed, including a Joint Bulgaria-Vietnam Statement, agreements in the fields of education, investments and trade, etc. which will give strong impetus to bilateral cooperation in the respective fields.

The intense meetings and events provide an excellent opportunity for the leaders to take stock of the many achievements in our traditional friendship and fruitful cooperation, and to explore concrete ways to further develop and upgrade them, fill them with more substance, new areas of interaction and tangible results, particularly in the economic field. I hope that the visit helps to put Bulgaria in the spotlight and showcases it as a trusted partner and attractive destination for business, tourism, education.

I hope that the Bulgarian delegation will have the chance to see as much of your beautiful country as possible, including its unique cultural and historical monuments.

Could you share some impressions on developments of Vietnam-Bulgaria bilateral relations in recent years?

Our high-level political dialogue is developing dynamically and is gradually resuming its intensity from before the pandemic.

The exchange of official visits by the leaders of the respective parliaments in September 2023 in Sofia and in January 2024 in Hanoi is a testament to the shared will and commitment to maintain and deepen Bulgaria-Vietnam relations and mutual understanding.

In 2024 we held the 24th session of the Joint Economic Committee in Sofia. A number of visits at legislative and local authorities’ level have taken place, sectoral cooperation is gaining momentum through signing various bilateral agreements.

Could you share about the Embassy's plan to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Vietnam-Bulgaria diplomatic relations in the next year?

The Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria emphasizes the significance of the celebration of the 75th anniversary in the context of the historical nature of the bilateral relations, built on the basis of long-standing friendship, mutual assistance and respect.

In close coordination with the Vietnamese side, we plan to exchange congratulatory addresses, carry out official visits, conduct bilateral political consultations at the level of Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Vietnam.

The Embassy will organize an official reception for the National Day of the Republic of Bulgaria for representatives of the state administration of Vietnam, the diplomatic corps, business circles and partners in Vietnam.

We also intend to highlight the distinctive role and importance of established strong people-to-people ties as a link between the two countries over the decades. For this purpose, we will cooperate with the Vietnam-Bulgaria Friendship Association and support their activities.

Thank you, Ambassador!
