Leaders’ activities
From October 30 to November 1, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s official visit to China was a great success, making a positive contribution to strengthening the solidarity of Vietnam-China traditional friendship, deepening the Vietnam-China Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership in the new era, promoting peace, stability and prosperous development of the region and the world.
During the visit, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong held talks with General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping; received the Friendship Order of the People's Republic of China presented by General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping on behalf of the Party and Government of China; had separate meetings with Premier Li Keqiang, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Li Zhanshu, Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Wang Yang.
On this occasion, the two sides signed 13 cooperation documents between ministries, branches and localities. Vietnam and China have issued the Joint Statement on continuing to promote and deepen the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership on the occasion of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s official visit to China from October 31 - November 1.
On November 1, within the framework of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's official visit to China, Vo Van Thuong, Politburo member and Permanent member of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee’s Secretariat, on November 1 had talks via videoconference with Cai Qi, member of the Standing Board of the Communist Party of China (CPC)’s Politburo, Secretary of the CPC Central Committee’s Secretariat, and Secretary of the Beijing CPC Committee.
On November 3, receiving outgoing Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Obaid Saeed Al Dhaheri, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc proposed to implement measures such as stepping up the exchange of all-level delegations, coordinating in holding political, economic and cultural events towards the 30th anniversary of establishment of bilateral diplomatic ties. Vietnam wants the UAE to assist its early completion of procedures to become a Dialogue Partner of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), increase the exchange of business delegations, encourage the organisation of fairs, exhibitions and business forums, promote the establishment of the Vietnam - UAE Business Council, and study the possibility of starting negotiations on a bilateral free trade agreement (FTA).
On November 1, on the occasion of Mr. Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva being elected President of the Federal Republic of Brazil, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc sent a congratulatory message.
On November 2, on the occasion of Mr. Ntsokoane Samuel Matekane was elected Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Lesotho, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh sent a congratulatory message.
On October 31, Vietnamese President Nguyen Xuan Phuc sent a message of condolences to Indian President Droupadi Murmu over the collapse of a bridge in Gurajat state a day earlier, killing many people. On the same day, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also extended condolences to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Vietnamese Government and Prime Minister himself will create favourable conditions for Adidas to expand its operations in Vietnam in the spirit of harmonising interests and sharing risks, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh told CEO of Adidas Kasper Rorsted during a reception in Hanoi on October 31, following their phone talks in September 2021 and March 2022. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh welcomed Adidas's expansion plan in Vietnam, expressed his delight at the development of friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Germany, especially in economy.
From October 31 to November 3, at the invitation of Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan, Denmark's Crown Prince Frederik and Princess Mary Elizabeth paid an official visit to Vietnam. Within the framework of the visit, Danish Crown Prince Frederik paid a courtesy call to President Nguyen Xuan Phuc; held talks with Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan; attended a number of activities such as ceremony marking the 50th Anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam and Denmark diplomatic relations, the groundbreaking ceremony of Lego factory in Binh Duong province; Vietnam-Denmark Sustainable Energy Summit Forum, seminars on wind power and energy saving, meetings with leaders of Ha Nam, Hai Phong, Ho Chi Minh City, etc.

On November 5, at the invitation of the Government of the People's Republic of China, Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh attended and spoke in a pre-recorded speech at the High-level Forum entitled “RCEP Spurs Higher-level Opening up”. The forum was held in the framework of the fifth China International Import Expo (CIIE), and the Hongqiao International Economic Forum which kicked off in Shanghai, China on November 5.
Activities of the Foreign Minister
Right after the end of the official visit to China by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong (from October 30 to November 1), Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son gave an interview to the press on the outcomes of the visit. The freshly-concluded visit to China by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has helped enhance sentiments, political trust and mutual understanding between the two countries, Foreign Minister affirmed.

Previously, on October 30, China's People's Daily newspaper published an article by Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son highlighted the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Vietnam and China.
Bilateral activities
In an interview granted to Vietnamese media on the official visit to China by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong from October 31 to November 1, Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Xiong Bo has described the freshly finished visit to China by General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Nguyen Phu Trong as a demonstration of the special importance of the relations between the two Parties and countries. Ambassador Xiong Bo stressed that the visit was the first visit to China by a foreign leader after the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and was highly important as it took place in a context that socialism building in the countries is entering a new development period, reflecting the special importance of the relations between the two Parties and the two countries. The visit will definitely promote the China - Vietnam comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership in the new era to a new level, he opined.
On the occasion of Crown Prince Frederik and Princess of Denmark leading the official visit to Vietnam from October 31 to November 3, Vietnamese Ambassador to Denmark Luong Thanh Nghi hightlighted the significance of the visit and review the development steps of bilateral relations over the past 50 years.
On November 4, receiving Vice President in charge of Global Trade of Nike Corporation Chris Helzer, Assistant Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Hang suggested that Nike continue to expand investment and business in Vietnam, and at the same time, focus on the fields of high technology, research and development, human resource development, green transformation, as well as continue to actively contribute to the development of Vietnam-US relations towards the 10th anniversary of establishing the Comprehensive Partnership in 2023.
On November 2, on the occasion of the 69th anniversary of the National Day of the Kingdom of Cambodia (November 9, 1953 - 2022), Standing Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Vu led a delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Cambodian Embassy in Hanoi to extend congratulations.
In a conversation with The World and Vietnam Report, Australian Ambassador to Vietnam Andrew John Lech Goledznowski revealed priorities during his "incredible & exciting" tenure in Vietnam.
Multilateral activities
On November 2, at a debate on the necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial embargo imposed by the US against Cuba (so-called Item 36), as part of the UN General Assembly’s 77th session, Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the UN, has stressed Vietnam's consistent stance of opposing the economic, trade and financial embargo against Cuba. He emphasised that the embargo violates international law and the basic principles of the UN Charter, and goes against a common desire for equal relations between countries.
Previously, on November 1, Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang participated in a discussion under the topic "Comprehensive review of peacekeeping issues in all aspects" of the Special Political Committee and Decolonization (Committee on Decolonization). Committee 4), Session 77 of the United Nations General Assembly.
On November 1, Ambassador Le Thi Tuyet Mai, Head of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations (UN), WTO and other international organisations in Geneva, had meeting with Director-General of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) Gilbert F. Houngbo. Highlighting that promoting the right to decent work, one of the fundamental rights of human, is one of the priorities of Vietnam as a member of the UN Human Rights Council in the 2023-2025 tenure, the Vietnamese diplomat said Vietnam hopes to receive ILO collaboration in implementing this priority. ILO Director-General affirmed his support and willingness to assist Vietnam in areas of Vietnam’s interest such as strengthening law enforcement mechanisms, promoting decent work, building and renovating the social security system, improving the quality of human resources, and formalising the informal economic sector.

In the capacity of Chairman of Working Group A of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) for the 2022-2024 term, Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Trung Kien chaired and moderated the 61st and 62nd meetings of the Group working in 2022 and in charge for reporting the results of the meeting at the 59th Annual Meeting of the CTBTO Preparatory Committee, scheduled to take place in the upcoming November 2022.
Foreign Ministry's Spokesperson
On November 3, at Ministry’s regular press conference, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang said that, at the invitation of Cambodian Prime Minister and Chair of ASEAN 2022 Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will pay an official visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia from November 8-9, attend the 40th and 41st ASEAN Summits and related Summits in Phnom Penh from November 10 to 13.
This is the first official visit to Cambodia by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh as Prime Minister and the first visit of a senior Vietnamese leader to Cambodia during the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Year 2022.
Spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang also informed Vietnam’s stance on ensuring food security; auction information on the imperial seal of the Nguyen Dynasty; the citizen protection of Vietnamese people after the accident in Itaewon district, Seoul, Korea.
Other activities
On November 4-5 in Hanoi, the Diplomatic Academy in collaboration with the Singapore KAS Foundation and the Cambodian Institute of Asian Vision (AIV) organized a workshop on "Together ASEAN-EU cooperation on security and connectivity" within the framework of the ASEAN-EU Young Research Network (EANGAGE) project.
From November 3-4, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the Embassy of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Vietnam organized a training workshop enhancing capacity and knowledge on information external relations and and communication skills.
On November 3, Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Gennady Bezdetko visited The World & Vietnam Report (WVR), appreciating the role, prestige and cooperation of the agency in recent years. Ambassador Bezdetko said that the two sides can strengthen cooperation and exchange of information in many fields in order to contribute more effectively to the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the Russian Federation.
On November 2, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held the Seminar "Implementing Vietnam's Digital Diplomacy: Issues and Recommendations", under the chair of Deputy Foreign Minister Pham Quang Hieu. The seminar took place in the hybrid format, attracted the participation of representatives from ministries, sectors, businesses leading in digital transformation, and 80 Vietnamese representative missions abroad. Addressing the event, Deputy Foreign Minister Pham Quang Hieu said that digital diplomacy has increasingly asserted its indispensable role as an effective tool for countries to implement foreign policies, and raise their voice, role and position in the world.
Following the visit to Cuba to attend the 22nd International Meeting of Communist and Workers' Parties (IMWCP), delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) led by member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Head of Central Committee’s Commission for Internal Affairs Tran Quoc Cuong visited the Dominican Republic from October 31 to November 3, at the invitation of the United Left Movement Party of the Dominican Republic.
