President Vladimir Putin arrives Hanoi, starting state visit to Vietnam

WVR- Early on June 20, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin arrived at Noi Bai Airport in Hanoi, beginning his state visit to Vietnam at the invitation of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong.

President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin arrived in Hanoi.

The Russian leader is accompanied by Foreign Minister Sergei Viktorovich Lavrov, Deputy Prime Minister and head of the Russian sub-committee of the Vietnam-Russia intergovernmental committee on economic-trade and science-technology cooperation Dmitry Nikolaevich Chernyshenko, and Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Gennady Stepanovich Bezdetko, among others.

Welcoming President Putin and the high-level Russian delegation at the airport were Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and Chairman of the CPV Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations Le Hoai Trung; Deputy Prime Minister Tram Hong Ha; Chairman of the Presidential Office Le Khanh Hai; Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh; and Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Dang Minh Khoi, among others.

Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and Chairman of the CPV Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations Le Hoai Trung welcomed President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin at Noi Bai Airport in Hanoi.

Speaking to the press, Russian Ambassador to Vietnam G.S. Bezdetko noted that President Putin will have talks and meetings with Vietnamese leaders and alumni of the former Soviet Union and Russian Universities. The two sides are expected to issue a joint statement and sign cooperation agreements in higher education, justice, customs, healthcare, energy, and science.

In an interview granted to the Vietnamese media on the occasion of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s state visit to Vietnam, Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Dang Minh Khoi said that Vietnam and Russia shared a high level of political trust with diverse political cooperation mechanisms and forms, including delegation exchanges at all levels.

The Democratic Republic of Vietnam and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) officially established diplomatic relations on January 30, 1950.

President Putin has visited Vietnam four times. The visit this time holds an extremely important significance, further deepening the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership in all fields, especially in the context that the two countries are striving to realise the joint statement on the comprehensive strategic partnership vision to 2030./.
