Transnational organised crime is complex and tends to increase worldwide, and Vietnam is no exception. Trafficking in persons has been identified by the United Nations as one of the most serious global organised crimes. To effectively combat this crime, nations and governments require strong partnerships.
Based on the above situation, the event to commemorate the World Day against ‘Trafficking in Persons’ was organised to raise the community's sense of responsibility in recognising the tricks and harmful effects of trafficking criminals; proactively prevent and actively participate in preventing this type of crime and contribute to building a clean and healthy living environment.
The event was attended by representatives of agencies under the Government of Vietnam, the Vietnam Women's Union, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee, the British Embassy in Vietnam, other agencies under the United Nations, Embassies and international organisations; along with teachers, staff and students of 4 schools in Tuyen Quang province.
Within the framework of the event, the Contest on Prevention and Control of Human Trafficking and Illegal Migration took place with the participation of teams from 4 schools: Tuyen Quang Vocational College of Engineering and Technology, Tan Trao University, Ham Yen Secondary and High School for Ethnic Minorities and Ethnic Boarding High School of Tuyen Quang.
The contest was organised with the goal of raising awareness among students, who are easily exposed and easily affected by human trafficking criminals. Singer Phan Manh Quynh and Miss Universe Viet Nam 2017 H'hen Nie together with more than 500 students attended the event and enthusiastically rooted for four teams.
After the final round, Tuyen Quang Vocational College of Engineering and Technology won the competition. The second prize went to Tan Trao University. Ham Yen Secondary and High School for Ethnic Minorities and Ethnic Boarding High School of Tuyen Quang finished with third prizes. The competing teams excellently demonstrated their knowledge on the topic of human trafficking prevention and made a strong impression on the judges.
