A musical concert to mark the 213th anniversary of Argentina’s National Day (25 May 1810-2023) and the 50th anniversary of bilateral relations between Argentina and Vietnam was held at Hanoi Opera House on May 25. |
The event was also part of the main activities organized to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the bilateral relations between Argentina and Vietnam (1973-2023).
In his opening remarks, Argentine Ambassador to Vietnam Luis Pablo Maria Beltramino recalled exactly 50 years ago, a special envoy from the Democratic Republic of Vietnam - Ambassadors Vu Hac Bong and Mr. Le Duc Cang attended the swearing-in ceremony of the Argentine President at the time. A month later, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Provisional Revolutionary Government - Madame Nguyen Thi Binh met in Spain with relevant Argentine politicians and on October 15, 1973, the Joint Communiqué formalizing the bilateral relations between Argentina and Vietnam was signed.
“Five decades have gone by building up an extraordinary and dynamic bilateral relation that probably no one would have imagined back in 1973,” the Ambassador stated. “Despite the geographical distance and the distant time zones, Argentina and Vietnam have grown strong ties and a solid and comprehensive partnership.”
In 2010, Vietnam and Argentine upgraded the relation to a Comprehensive Partnership and are looking forward to achieving soon a Strategic Partnership in the agricultural sector. The two countries have close dialogues at the highest government level as well as fluid contacts in all other levels, an enriching people to people interaction, a sustainable and uninterrupted annual trade growth reaching in 2022, a close to 5 billion USD, as well as strategically complementary economies, and a multifaceted bilateral cooperation and South-South technical assistance, he noted.

The bilateral trade and investment has still potential to grow from both sides and therefore they committed to create favorable conditions for market access and promotion, he added.
“Looking back on what we have achieved together and working today for the road map ahead we can foresee another prosperous and enriching 50 years for our two Nations and our Peoples,” Argentine Ambassador said.
In his welcoming remarks, Deputy Foreign Minister Ha Kim Ngoc highlighted the historic journeys and important achievements that people of Argentina have recorded over the past 213 years since their reclamation of sovereignty following the great May Revolution.
He also praised the Government and people of Argentina for the persistent efforts in helping the country overcome all challenges and record outstanding accomplishments across the board.

He said that for the Vietnamese people, Argentina brings to mind an artistic culture imbued with its distinctive identity, reflected through the country’s captivating Tango dance and marvelous Malbec wine, and remarkable football matches involving the Argentina national football team. On the international stage, Argentina is playing an increasingly important role not only in Latin America but also the world at large. Argentina is a key G20 country, and is among the founding members of many global and regional organizations such as the United Nations (UN), the World Trade Organization (WTO), and the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR), among others.
Through such endeavors, Argentina has been making meaningful contributions to building a more peaceful and better world, he added.
The Deputy FM also emphasised that given the two countries’ shared visions toward civilization and progress, common traditional national values, and similar goals of national construction and development, Viet Nam and Argentina have fostered a strong bond of friendship and cooperation over the past 50 years.

Over the past years, both countries have holistically implemented such cooperation mechanisms as the Political Consultation between the two Foreign Ministries, the Intergovernmental Committee on Economic, Trade and Investment Cooperation, and parliamentary collaboration, he noted.
He also stated that Viet Nam and Argentina should continue to maintain close and effective coordination at multilateral forums and international organizations, such as the United Nations and FEALAC. With a two-way trade turnover of over US$4.8 billion last year, Argentina is Viet Nam's third largest trading partner in Latin America, while Viet Nam is Argentina's fifth largest export market.
Recalling the official visit to Argentina from 23 to 26 April 2023 by President of the National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue, the Deputy FM said that the visit marks a very meaningful milestone, for it underscores the importance that Viet Nam attaches to Argentina - one of its top partners in Latin America.
He also expressed his hope that the two countries will continue to deepen their substantive and effective cooperation, and strive towards the establishment of a Sectoral Strategic Partnership in areas of mutual interest.

As part of the cultural exchange between Argentina and Vietnam, Argentine acclaimed Master classic pianist Mirian Conti played at the Hanoi Opera House, accompanied by Suc Song Moi Bamboo Ensemble, led by the prestigious conductor Đồng Quang Vinh. The artists played renowned musical works by Argentine, Vietnamese and international composers.
Argentine pianist Mirian Conti’s recording output and international concerts have garnered praise and awards. She has appeared worldwide as soloist and with many orchestras, in Europe, Asia, Africa, South and Central America, Canada and throughout the U.S.
Mirian Conti was a Scholarship student of Richard Fabre and Josef Raieff and graduated from with a BM and MM from the Juilliard School. In recognition of her extraordinary talent, a scholarship honoring Conti was established at Juilliard by the Edwin Bachman Estate. In addition, she was selected as one of 100 Outstanding Alumni to celebrate Juilliard’s centennial in 2005-06. Since 2007, Ms. Conti is on the Faculty of the Evening Division at the Juilliard School.
Pianist Mirian Conti will perform next 1st of June at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music accompanied by cellist Nguyen Tan Anh and vioinist Le Minh Hien.
Simultaneously that evening, Nhat Tan Bridge was lighted with the colors of Argentine National Flag in honor to the National Day and in a demonstration of the true lasting friendship between Argentina and Vietnam. |
