The Vietnamese Consulate General in China’s Hong Kong and Macau hosted a reception to celebrate the event. Commissioner of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hong Kong Cui Jianchun joined the celebration alongside representatives from the Hong Kong administration and staff from Vietnamese representive offices there.

At the Hong Kong event, Vietnamese Consul General Le Duc Hanh highlighted the steadfast development of the bilateral relations over the past 75 years, noting the strengthened political trust and growing people-to-people connections.

The past years have proven that the consolidation and development of the Vietnam – Chia ties align perfectly with the fundamental and long-term interests of the two peoples, she said, referencing Party General Secretary To Lam’s state visit to China in August last year, during which both sides designated 2025 as the Year of Vietnam-China Humanistic Exchange so as to step up cultural, educational, and tourism relations between the two countries.

On the occasion, Consul General Hanh honoured several Vietnamese in Hong Kong and Macau for their contributions to maintaining and nurturing the bilateral ties. The diplomat also expressed her confidence in the stronger Vietnam - China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.

Commissioner Cui, for his part, laid stress on the growing partnership, with Vietnam and Hong Kong boasting complementary strengths, adding Vietnam is currently Hong Hong’s second largest trading partner within the ASEAN bloc.

Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu’s visit to Vietnam in 2024 – the first by a Hong Kong leader – resulted in multiple cooperation agreements in economy, trade, and aviation. Commissioner Cui held that Hong Kong's integration into China's overall development will create new opportunities for Vietnam-Hong Kong cooperation.

The Commissioner's Office of China's Foreign Ministry in Hong Kong will continue mobilising diplomatic resources and working with the Hong Kong administration to back the Vietnam – Hong Kong cooperation, thereby delivering greater benefits to both sides, Cui said.
