Excellency, in the context that the relationship between the two countries is developing very impressively, could you please share with us the meanings and the objectives of the upcoming official visit of the Vietnamese Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan to Mozambique?
The Official visit of H.E. Vo Thi Anh Xuan, Vice-President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Republic of Mozambique, occurs in a context in which the bilateral relations of friendship between our two countries, continue to register positive signs of growth, consubstantiated by the realization, in May 2023, in Maputo, of the IV Session of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission, and the realization, in 2022, of the virtual meeting between H. E. Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, the President of Mozambique and H.E. Nguyen Phu Trong, the Secretary-General of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the visit to Vietnam of H.E. Esperança Bias, President of Assembly of the Republic of Mozambique.

For Mozambique, this visit not only means an opportunity for the leaders of our countries to discuss cooperation strategies toward robust socio-economic development, and matters of national and international politics but also to deepen the relations of friendship and cooperation existing between our two countries.
As the most important partner of Vietnam in Africa, what are your assessments of the potential for cooperation between the two countries, especially in key areas such as economics and agriculture?
At a time when our countries are recovering from the global negative effects such as the COVID-19 pandemic, climate change, and the conflict in Ukraine, Mozambique continues to focus on Vietnam as a firm partner to ensure not only food security but also to expand the export of cereals, legumes, and vegetables to the regional and international market.
Mozambique and Vietnam cooperate in various economic areas, including agriculture, education and training, telecommunications, public security, trade, technical assistance, and know-how projects, among other areas. Hence, it is the expectation of our Government that, in the area of agriculture, there will be agreed actions that contribute to the implementation, in the current year of 2023, of the Project for Cooperation in the Development of Rice, Soybean and Horticultural Production for the central and northern provinces of Mozambique, initially projected for the period 2022-2026, and mechanism for the transfer of agricultural and food technologies, including biotechnology.
How do you envision this visit strengthening the bilateral relations as well as the cooperation in the international and multilateral forums between Mozambique and Vietnam?
Mozambique and Vietnam are brotherly countries that have shared common ideals since the period of their liberation struggle and colonial domination. Both Mozambique and Vietnam, seek to reinforce their position as prominent foreign policy actors at both regional and international levels. In this context, the two countries continue to maintain a political a diplomatic concertation on matters of common interest on the global agenda, such as elections to membership in international organizations, reform of the United Nations, and climate change, among others.
Recently, Vietvam supported my country's candidacy for the post of Non-Permanent Member of the United Security Council of the UN for the period 2023-2024, and Mozambique seeks to secure the candidacy of Vietnam to the UN Human Rights Council, UN Economics and Social Council and the World Heritage Committee.
Excellency, how does the Mozambique side evaluate and expect this visit and how do you see the future of Mozambique-Vietnam relations evolving beyond this visit?
The visit of H.E. the Vice President of Vietnam to Mozambique has great significance for our country, as it will be yet another instrument for strengthening the existing relations of friendship, solidarity, and bilateral cooperation. Furthermore, it will serve to leverage the promotion of investment and trade opportunities and other activities that contribute to an increase in Mozambican exports to the Vietnamese market and other areas of mutual interest and mutual gains.
