Bac Giang, the nation’s current COVID-19 hotspot recorded the highest number of active cases at 45, while the other cases consisted of 2 in Hung Yen and one each in Hai Duong, Dien Bien and Ha Noi.

The nation has so far registered a total of 4,883 positive COVID-19 cases, including 3,405 community cases and 1,478 imported infections.

The pandemic has reported across 30 provinces and cities nationwide, with May 20 alone seeing the nation record an additional 114 local transmissions.

Earlier in the morning, the Ministry of Health also confirmed a further 24 domestic infections, including 15 detected in the current Bac Giang hotspot.

The nation has recently also confirmed 40th coronavirus death, the fifth fatality recorded amid the country's latest wave.
