Muong Hoa getting a whiff of new ripe rice scent

Muong Hoa valley stretches across the territory of two communes Muong Hoa and Hoang Lien, about 10km from the center of Sa Pa town southeast bound. Muong Hoa is famous for the widest and most beautiful terraced fields in Sapa. This place is attributed to the convergence of all the ecstatic beauty of Sa Pa, where there are green or golden terraced fields in the ripe rice season, studded with unique ancient rocks and immerged in diverse cultures.

Flower Stream passes through the communes of Lao Chai, Ta Van, Hau Thao... and ends at Ho hamlet.

Flower Stream flows trickling non-stop throughout the four seasons. In the ripe rice season, the yellow color from the rice fields is reflected in the clear stream, shimmering amidst the blue sky and clouds, increasing the magical beauty of the valley. Today, the local people have a bridge across the stream, both convenient for daily activities and for tourists to have beautiful sights in their journey.

Being raptured by the magnificent beauty of Muong Hoa valley, visitors can choose to either roam about the daily life and culture of the Black Hmong, the Red Dao, the Giay; or study the mysterious ancient rocks interspersed among the trees; or learn about the farming process on terraced fields; or immerse yourself in the special festive atmosphere; or have a stay in the simple houses that exist right in the middle of the terraced fields or in the homestays located along the mountainside, overlooking the immense green valley.

Thanks to the rustic and magical beauty, the Muong Hoa valley is bustling with tourists, both domestic and international visitors, during the past 4 days of National Day holiday.

Visitors can participate in harvesting and threshing new rice manually on terraced fields; joining the round sticky rice cake making, and/or attend the New Rice Festival of the Hmong and the Giay; visit stalls displaying and introducing agricultural products, local culinary specialties; walk to enjoy the panoramic view of the heritage of terraced fields and Flower Stream... It is estimated that there are about 1,500 visits of tourists who come and enjoy the experience on this occasion.

However, there are also questions to be answered, when is the best season for going to Muong Hoa valley? To be fair, each season of this valley has its own beauty. From March to May, the valley wears a green color. It is green from young rice seedlings and forest trees. At this time, it is cold in Muong Hoa.

From September to November, Muong Hoa is golden again; the whole valley is permanently filled with fragrant young rice flavor. From December to February, Muong Hoa valley has a unique beauty, that is, the numbing cold weather of the Northwest mountains which imprints an unforgettable memory for any visitor.
