On the afternoon of July 20, at a regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, responding to a question asking for information about 2 Vietnamese citizens that were executed by the terrorist group Abu Sayyaf in the Philippines, Foreign Ministry's Spokeswoman Le Thi Thu Hang said:

“According to the Vietnam’s Embassy in the Philippines, so far, the funeral services for the two Royal 16 sailors have been done.

The Vietnam’s Embassy in the Philippines continues to work closely with the Philippine authorities to complete the necessary legal procedures in order to bring the Vietnamese citizens’ body back home as soon as possible.

Once again, we would like to extend our deepest condolences to the families of the victims and hope that they will soon overcome this tragedy.”

Responding to the question about 2 Vietnamese women missing in the UK, the Spokeswoman said: “After receiving the information, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs immediately instructed the Vietnam’s Embassy in the UK to contact local authorities to clarify and prepare neccessary protective measures for the two Vietnamese citizens.”

She said the Ministry will provide updates when getting new information.
